Thermo King is the first OEM to offer extended life to qualifying transport refrigeration units and auxiliary power units through a certified program, and we are proud to make these manufacturer warrantied units available. CPO units meet specific eligibility requirements and provide Thermo King reliability, performance and value at an economical cost.

Buying a used refrigeration or auxiliary power unit can be a risky endeavor. That’s where the Thermo King Certified Pre-Owned Program comes in.
Each used Thermo King reefer unit or APU must meet strict eligibility requirements. This includes testing, inspection, and a verification process by the team at an experienced participating dealership location. Next, a detailed refurbishing process begins. Units receive genuine Thermo King parts and premium maintenance depending on the CPO tier chosen.
Once the refurbishing process is finished, each unit receives a Thermo King manufacturer warranty depending on the tier chosen, offering you full peace of mind on the road.
How does a used or refurbished Thermo King unit get certified?
1. Units must meet strict eligibility requirements.
- Qualifying used Thermo King trailer units must have less than 23K engine run hours.
- Qualifying used Thermo King APUs must have less than 10K engine run hours.
- Engine conditions are inspected, verified and approved.
- All units must pass an inspection to determine viability for successful reconditioning.
2. Units are reconditioned with genuine Thermo King parts.
- Refurbishing, parts replacement and maintenance requirements are dictated by one of three CPO tiers for trailer – basic, full or premium – or two tiers for TriPac – basic or premium.
3. Units are backed by a Thermo King manufacturer’s warranty.
- Various tiers of coverage allow for flexibility to meet varying price point and coverage needs.
